The Zee Cine Awards 2011 were held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore this weekend; Newzglobe brings you the top winners from the night
Akshay Kumar and Sajid Khan hosted the ceremony, which featured performances from Bollywood’s A-list, including Shah Rukh Khan; Aishwarya Rai Bachchan; Priyanka Chopra; Deepika Padukone; Arjun Ramphal; Farah Khan; Karan Johar; Ranbir Kapoor; and Hrithik Roshan.
Hrithik Roshan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan clinched the top honours of Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) for the film ‘Guzaarish’.
‘My Name is Khan’, a movie about an autistic Muslim man who lives in the USA, won the Best Director title. The film was directed by Karan Johar and starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead role. The Best Film award went to Salman Khan’s action comedy ‘Dabangg’.
In the ‘Popular Choice’ category, Vidya Balan clinched the Best Actor (Female) for her role in ‘Ishqiya’, and Shahrukh Khan grabbed the Best Actor (Male) for ‘My Name is Khan’.
Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male) went to Arjun Rampal for ‘Raajneeti’, Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Female) was awarded to Prachi Desai for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. Boman Irani won Best Actor In A Comic Role (Male/Female) for ‘Well Done Abba’, and Ronit Roy won Best Actor In A Negative Role (Male/Female) for ‘Udaan’. Best Musical Score went to Sajid-Wajid for ‘Dabangg’.
The ceremony was televised in more than 170 countries worldwide with reach of more than 500 million viewers, including USA; Canada; Europe; Africa; the Middle East; South East Asia; Australia; and New Zealand.
