There is a lot riding on Aiyyaa for Rani Mukerji, because she is perhaps the only most saleable name in the project – Prithviraj is better known in the South than in Bollywood fan circles. If the film works, the only person she will have to share the credit with is director Sachin Kundalkar. Aiyyaa will be Rani’s acid test as far as her clout at the BO is concerned, since she has been off the audience radar for a while now. The Dreamum wakeupum song is raunchy enough to get the masses into the theatres, but we wonder if they will understand and accept the spoofy – or so it seems – content of the film. While almost all her younger contemporaries including Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor have at least one Rs 100 crore film in their kitty, Rani has not managed to get there yet.
In a recent interview Rani was asked about her equation with the Khans. She said, “I have no issues with any of them. In fact, both Shah Rukh and Aamir have taught me a lot. Shahrukh has always been very supportive as a co-star and that helps you to do better. Aamir has been very much like a teacher to me in my career. And even when I worked with him in Talaash, I still felt I’ve so much to learn from him and I am still a student. Salman is a good friend too. Because of all this, the bond I share with them is very different from that with the others. And I know all the Khans love me!”
We like the Aiyyaa babe’s confidence and hope that she gets back into the top league soon!
