Russian Salad Recipe Russian Salad is incredibly popular in Russia, where it is referred to as Olivier Salad. There, it is a staple at all celebrations that involve food, particularly at New Year.Russian salad is a traditional salad dish in Russian cuisine, which is also popular in many other European countries, Iran, Israel, Mongolia and also throughout Latin America. In different modern recipes, it is usually made with diced boiled potatoes, carrots, brined dill pickles, green peas, eggs, celeriac, onions, diced boiled chicken (or sometimes ham or bologna sausage), tart apples, with salt, pepper, and mustard added to enhance flavor, dressed with mayonnaise. In many countries, the dish is commonly referred to as Russian salad, although this term can connote vinegret. A variation called Stolichny salad exists, and is also popular in the Russian cuisine.
Russian Salad is a potato salad with many variations to it.In its most basic form, it is diced potatoes and cooked vegetables, mixed in mayonnaise. The vegetables are usually diced carrot and green peas, often canned or frozen.Chopped meat is sometimes added. Any other root vegetables are usually diced. Beyond that, all bets are off, and anything can be put in. The mayonnaise might be even swapped for oil and vinegar.
Walnut 50 gm
Raisin 50 gm
Mayonnaise ½ cup
Black pepper ¼ tsp
Salt to taste
Cream 4 tsp
Boil potatoes and carrots.
Cut apple, potato and carrot into cubes.
Combine boiled carrot, boiled potatoes, apple, walnut, raisin, black pepper, mayonnaise and cream in a bowl and mix well.
Serve the delicious Russian salad with grilled chicken and zeera pulao.
To serve, garnish with lettuce leaf, sliced cucumber and long slices of carrot.
Tips: Boiled green peas or boiled chicken can also be added to the salad.
