Female actors in Bollywood are not expected to be best of friends. In fact, when you see them together all you expect is a cat fight. Especially, when they are vying for the top spot. But things Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan seem to be defying those norms as they have been coming out in full support of each other. Both the actors have been nominated in the best actor category- Priyanka for 7 Khoon Maaf and Vidya for The Dirt Picture and the ‘Ooh la la’ girl has managed to grab more trophies than her counterpart. We thought that this would lead to some kind of bitterness in their equation but the girls seem to have proven us wrong. Piggy Chops has been praising Vidya for her guts to gain weight for her role. “Vidya was great in ‘The Dirty Picture’.
Very few actresses have the courage to gain about 15 kgs for a role! You know how the industry works. Actresses are extremely conscious about their weight. I could manage only 3-4kgs for 7 Khoon Maaf,” said Priyanka. We did look for some sarcasm in her statement but their public behaviour at award functions has proven that wrong too. The two were seen having a great conversation at Daboo Ratnani’s calendar launch and have been spotted having animated talks at award shows. But then at the Zee Cine Awards show Priyanka ended up spoofing Vidya and we thought that the equations might change from here on. Priyanka clarified that Vidya actually enjoyed her Silk Smitha act. “Vidya takes it in a good spirit. I wore a fat suit to imitate her. After the act she herself told me how funny it looked. She wasn’t offended at all. She is extremely sporting,” she said. Now that’s quite heartening to know. Industry insiders say that Vidya is one of the most secure actors in B-town as she believes that she has made a place for herself in Bollywood. Vidya also has only good things to say about Priyanka. She said that out of all the contemporaries she admires Priyanka the most, and not only because she did a 7 Khoon Maaf, but also because she feels that Chops is constantly trying to do something different with each of her films. While we really enjoy cat fight stories, its great to hear about B-town girls’ friendships once in a while, don’t we?
