50 gm button mushrooms
220 gm can water chestnuts
3 x spring onions, cut into 2 cm pieces

2 tsp oil
1/4 tsp sugar
1/4 cup oyster sauce
2 tsp soy sauce
1 clove of garlic, crushed
2 x spring onions, chopped

To save money, you may cut up a top round roast rather than using the tenderloin.

Directions to cook Chinese Beef Kebabs recipe:

1,Trim excess fat from steak meat and cut it into cubes.

2,Mix the marinade ingredients together:Combine the oyster sauce, oil, soy sauce, garlic, chopped spring onions, and sugar into a large bowl.

3,Add the beef and mushrooms (which have been wiped and left whole). Cover and marinate for at least 2 hours.

I personally liked to add whole mushrooms and dunked the mushrooms, tomatoes, and onion in the marinade immediately before threading on the skewers.

4,Thread the meat, mushrooms, water chestnuts and pieces of spring onions alternately onto skewers. Cook over hot coals brushing with the marinade until cooked.

5,Served on a bed of red bib lettuce…very lovely!

1, Use thin skewers for these kebabs as thick skewers tend to split the water chestnuts.

2,you may change mushrooms and water chestnuts to whatever vegetables you like. You should also consider fruits as a good addition. Pineapple is especially good because it adds a sweet/tart flavor to the kebab.

The greatest challenge to cook this recipes is that different things  need to be cooked for different times. Try to get the vegetables cooked right along with the meat is to use small pieces. Ideally your chunks of meat should be about 1 inch square. Keep the fruit and vegetables to about this size.Served on a bed of red bib lettuce…very lovely!
