Satyamev Jayate has ended but the fight it augmented against various social issues is still coming out with good results. In one of its episodes Aamir Khan talked about acute water shortage problem in many villages and towns in India. It also threw light on the way our rivers are getting polluted by the industries which dump their waste into it. It seems it served as a wakeup call for the state government as it has pledged full support to Aamir Khan by helping him to raise funds for the same.
Maharashtra Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Laxman Dhoble met with Aamir in the latter’s residence and discussed about the issue for over two hours last Saturday. According to reports, the minister advocated the need for spreading awareness about this problem which will in turn help in curbing it. Aamir on his part assured the minister that he will be available in every way possible. He is ready to attend events organized for the same or be the Government’s representative to have a discussion with the Central Government or even the World Bank. He also promised that he would contribute by being present at every event held in this regard.
Aamir also informed the minister that he is leaving for US to shoot his next film for two months and once he is back in India, he will actively participate in the campaign. The minister is said to have asked Aamir to become the face of this campaign too.
