That’s the day that the bride’s side gathers with the bride or the groom’s side gathers with the groom. The traditional color is yellow. It’s an opportunity for the “ghar wale” to gather and celebrate, feed sweets to the bride or groom, do all the rasams. It is traditionally WITHOUT the other side, and is often less formal. Also, traditionally, once the bride has had her manja/mayun she dresses in yellow until the wedding day and does not leave the house. Obviously things don’t work quite like this any more.
